Electrician Martim Grodiski, 55, went viral on social media after decorating his home in Blumenau, Santa Catarina, Brazil, with 880,000 lights. He claims it is the most decorated house in the world.

In an interview with UOL portal, Martim shared that his home attracts tourists year-round and that his family has been maintaining this tradition since 1996.

“I know many people say that Christmas has lost its charm, but we are the ones who have stopped making Christmas magical,” he explained. “My family has always lived the magic of Christmas, since I was a child we decorated everything,” said Martim.

The preparations begin in February and last until September and October, with the help of family members and neighbors.

The visits to the Christmas light display are free, despite the electricity bill reaching $1,205 with all the lights on from November to January when the decorations are taken down.

Martim said he did not expect the event to become so famous in the city. The inauguration took place on November 15, and over 3,000 people attended.

According to Martim, his house would be the most decorated in the world. “We did some research, and in the latest version of the Guinness Book, the most decorated house in the world had 650,000 lights,” he said.
